How Do Refrigerated Compressed Air Dryers Work?

Do you wish to avoid condensate problems? Install a refrigerated compressed air dryer.

What is a Refrigerated compressed air dryer?

This air dryer is a kind of compressed air dryer that is widely used to dry the compressed air. We are aware that compressed air contains moisture coming from the air that is taken in by the compressor. When there is a need to protect the piping, the tools, and equipment, it is advisable that you use air dryer to dry the air.

Why do you need a Refrigerated compressed air dryer?

These refrigerated compressed air dryers are the most common types of air dryers. Simply designed, these air dryers need very little maintenance and are quite affordable as compared to their counterparts in the market.

A refrigerated compressed air dryer is an obvious choice when you are looking for a simple dryer and do not have any special requirements.

Though these compressors do not need much maintenance, it is important that you get it installed from an expert so that you are free from any future problems. Call us, fit it and forget it.

Working of refrigerated compressed air dryers

As we can understand from the name itself, a refrigerated air dryer cools down the air like a refrigerator. The warm and humid air enters the air dryer and the dryer cools the air down up to 3-degree celsius. The water vapor gets converted into water. The water is then removed from the compressed air dryer by way of a water trap.

Once this process is complete, the cold air is again reheated to bring it back to the room temperature. Because most of the excess water is condensed now, the air remains much dryer. This compressed air dryer works on the same mechanism as that of your fridge or refrigerator. The liquid refrigerant is evaporated in the evaporator in a separate circuit. It cools down the warm compressed air.

While the air is cooled, the refrigerant gets warm. The refrigerant is compressed by another small compressor and it is cooled again in the condenser.

Types of Refrigerated compressed Air Dryers

There are two types of refrigerated compressed air dryers:

  • Cycling compressed air dryers
  • Non-cycling compressed air dryers

The main advantage of a cycling air dryer is that it will automatically increase or decrease the cooling capacity depending upon the air usage. This feature helps the user is saving energy and money.

The non-cycling air compressors are the most common ones and they do not need any kind of maintenance. Further, they are the most reliable ones.

Factors to consider while buying a refrigerated compressed air dryer

Whatever you buy, you need to consider some factors and while buying a compressed air dryer, here are certain considerations:

  1. Check the maximum pressure of the dyer. The maximum pressure of the air dryer must be equal to or higher than your air compressor.
  2. The flow. The maximum airflow that the dryer is capable to manage must be more than that of your air compressor. If you pick up a low capacity air dryer, it will put extra pressure on the machine resulting in more consumption of energy.
  3. Inlet Temperature. All air dryers have a maximum specified inlet temperature. When this temperature exceeds, the parts will be damaged or the dryer will start malfunctioning. You must always check the temperature capacity before purchasing a compressed air dryer.
  4. Check your outside room temperature because you cannot place your air compressor and compressed air dryer in a hot room. If you do this, the dryer will overheat itself and shut down automatically.
The working mechanism of all the air dryers is more or less the same. By paying a little attention and knowing your own requirements, you can select the best-compressed air dryer from a reliable air dryer manufacturer in Ahmedabad.
